Aphrodite the goddess of love, lust, and beauty. Many believe she sprout out of the foam, when Cronus threw the genitals of Uranus into the ocean. Others say she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione. She is also the wife of Hephaestus, but she dislikes being married to him. When Zeus gave Hephaestus Aphrodite’s hand in marriage he was filled with joy and made her many jewels. This wasn’t such a good idea since even more gods and mortals where attracted to her. Aphrodite’s many lovers included Adonis, Anchises, and Ares. Aphrodite has a festival in her honor called Aphrodisiac held in many areas in Greece. During my reading on Aphrodite I learned she was a very sexual goddess and her lady worshipers had a special way of worshipping her, which included sexual intercourse. She has played many roles in Greek Mythology. I found these facts at: http://www.pantheon.org/articles/a/aphrodite.html I found this picture at: http://www.tqnyc.org/NYC063035/Godesses.html
